There are many tools that a voice talent needs to get a high quality voice recording. For my audio productions I have chosen only professional equipment made by long established brands in this sector and recorded in a treated environment that is completely devoid of any kind of sound reflection.
To record my voice I use the Neumann U87 microphone, a top level microphone taht provides a very natural sound. This microphone is made by Neumann, a leading brand in terms of microphones.
Then the acquired sound ends up in the Neve 1073 preamplifier, which guarantees a warm and focused sound.
To convert everything into digital I chose a sound card small in size but big in performance, the RME Babyface, which also sends the audio that my clients listen to during the remote recording sessions.
To record, edit and produce my audio files I use Reaper, a simple and light multitrack editor, definitely not as noble as Pro Tools but provides absolutely amazing performances. For automation and volume wise I use a Behringer control surface, the Behringer BCF 2000.
I also have several other microphones like the Neumann TLM 103, the Neumann TLM 102 that I use for female vocals, the Aston Spirit and the Rode Nt1A, winner of several awards. I often use Rode to record when I’m not in the studio with the help of a laptop and a high-performance USB sound card, the Audient ID4.
The core of my studio is my computer, an Intel I5 at 3300 GHZ with 16 GB of RAM, a solid 480 GB drive for the system and a 3 terabyte drive for data.
As my operating system I chose Windows 7 Professional 64-bit properly configured to ensure the best available resources.
I love this job, and I do everything so that a customer never has to give up neither to my voice nor to the audio quality. When I can’t have a PC with me I record on an Audiotechnica AT2020 USB, an ultra-portable microphone that I connect to my IPhone 7 on which I installed Twisted Wave, an excellent audio editor for Ios from which I can edit and send my productions directly via email, FTP or Dropbox.
